You can track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study you can get support from your iTAFE mentor and advisor.

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Develop Work Priorities unit. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.

This includes:
  • Understanding your paradigms
  • Personal SWOT Analysis
  • Understand your organisations values and priorities

What is your understanding of a paradigm?
Why might the discussion of a paradigm be important as part of this unit?

Session 2: Seven Habits of Highly Effective People – Red tiles
This includes:
  • Time Management
  • To do Lists
  • Time Matrix
  • Mission Statement

A few points to think about for your blog:

What are some things you can do to take more control of your life?
What is your mission statement?

  • What really does matter to you?
  • Do you work to live or live to work?
  • Can you effectively balance your work and life?
  • What are your values?
  • What motivates and drives you?
  • What principles do you work and live by?
  • What are the principles/values that drive your personal leadership?

How do you priortise tasks in your workplace?
How could you apply the “Win Win” philosophy to your advantage?
What are the advantages of being an active listener?
Do you allow for creative compromise in the workplace or is your way the only way?
How do you reenergize?

Session 3: Set and Meet own Schedule – Yellow tiles
This includes:
  • Personal Goal Setting
  • Managing Interruptions
  • Delegation
  • Become aware of tools (technological) that can be used effectively to help manage your work priorities and commitments

How do you balance work and family demands?
Will you still need to manage interruptions when you are working from home?
How do you decide which work to delegate?
What technology have you used in your workplace to efficiently and effectively manage and monitor planning completion and scheduling of task? How have you used it effectively?

Session 4: Performance Feedback and Professional Development – Aqua tiles
This includes:
  • How to gather feedback on your performance
  • Personal SWOT Analysis
  • Develop a Professional Development Plan

A few points to think about for your blog:
Why is professional development important?
What’s changed to make it critical?
So what is in it for you ?
What makes you a competent person?
What is competence?
What skill gaps do you or the organization have?
